Why the Divinely Powered radio show?

The show is an extension of not only its primary sponsor, Unity of Chicago South Spiritual Community (UCS), but also a platform for other local New Thought centers.  It is the intention of UCS to express in various ways that part of the UCS mission compatible with the positive welfare of the individuals of the community we serve and beyond.

A Short New Thought Primer

Practical Christianity “The teachings of Jesus practically applied to our everyday life.”  Adapted from “The Revealing Word” Charles Fillmore co-founder of Unity Church

. . . Practical Spirituality is not esoteric, obscure or mysterious.  It is neither “wishy-washy”- “willy-nilly” nor anything beyond the realm of practical living.  There is no God out there.  It is all in here-within your heart, within your mind – within the framework of your being.  You cannot step out of God, as you are immersed in the fullness of it All.  That is Practical Spirituality.”     Rev. Dr. Nick Angotti

What is New Thought?

“NEW THOUGHT is not, as many believe, a name or expression employed to define any fixed system of thought, philosophy, or religion, but is a term used to convey the idea of growing or developing thought. In considering this subject, the word “New” should be duly and freely emphasized, because the expression “New Thought” relates only to what is new and progressive.”

  • “It would be a misuse of terms to apply the expression “New Thought” to a system of thought because when thought is molded and formed into a system, it ceases to be new.”
  • “New Thought” is the result or creation of the perpetually advancing mind.”
  • “It is not satisfied with systems of philosophy or religion originating in other ages and handed down through succeeding generations.”
  • “Systems do not grow; mind develops wanting something larger and better.”
  • “It is merely the logical and natural effort of the mind in its struggle for advancement; it is following its basic and inherent law.”
